Procrastination

In an effort to procrastinate, I went to Yosemite this past weekend with a bunch of friends from fellowship. The struggles of studying has resulted in:

Experiential

It's weird to be posting in my old haunt: the VLSB microcomputing facility. Believe it or not, but they still have my calnet ID and password. Weird, eh?

I realized today for the first time that I'm not the person I was in college. I've actually moved on. But that's a good thing. See, ever since graduation, I've had trouble letting go of this place and its people. But now, after being removed from berkeley, I've realized that I've changed and the people have changed, too. Don't get me wrong, I still love the people I knew in college (ya'lls who read it, don't let anyone tell you something different, just know that SOMEONE LOVES YOU).

But I saw all these berkeley students and realized that i'm not one of them anymore. It was almost on the level of an epiphany. It wasn't a lightbulb, per se, more like a glow stick.

Not to say that I'm old either, shoot. Last night, ask how much soju I had and I'll tell you. (not that much, but I just wanted to say it to be young and rebellious).

Yeah. Experiences shape people. I'm starting to think it's nurter more than nature.

Testicular Cancer

Here is a direct quote from my anatomy syllabus:
At first, it will probably feel strange and perhaps a bit uncomfortable to examine your testicles. You will probably feel like you don't know what you are doing, that you just can't feel anything. That kind of self-doubt is perfectly normal; it happens to every medical student. Give it time. Get used to the idea and don't give up. After a while you will get to know your testes as well as you know, for example, the little idiosyncratic noises in your car. Testicular self-exam is pretty easy, and after a while it should become second nature. The American Cancer Society published a pamphlet on testicular self-exam from which the directions above were taken. Contact the ACS in your area for

And that is how the chapter ended. Kind of abrupt, don't you think? And i must need to know more about the testicular self examination seeing as i HAVE no testes.

On another note: try imagining Russell Peters saying "valsalva" in an indian accent and that is my anatomy professor. I got blamed yesterday for laughing too hard in lecture.

Yet another note: I'm going to the Good Friday Service at City Church, anyone want to come with me? Let me know. I'm driving.

Note #3: I'm gonna be in Berkeley on SATURDAY for eggster. Anyone wanna eat lunch?

Be That Kind of Christian

oooo posting 2 days in a row. i'm on a roll. :P

Today I heard the most encouraging story.

The minister today, when he was pastoring out in Atlanta was gardening one day. His neighbor, a Polish Jew who was a retired professor invited him to her house, so he went. She showed him pictures of her family in Poland, her sister, mama and papa. It was 1939 and Nazi Germany had invaded Poland. They knew they were going to be chased after. But her mother had befriended a Christian who lived near them. Right after they heard about the invasion she knocked on their door and said "Bring the children to me." So that day her mother rounded her and her sister and gave them to their Christian friend. They never saw their parents again.

"I'm alive because of a Christian. Be that kind of Christian."

With Passion Week approaching and Easter in a week, this was a pretty convicting sermon illustration to say the least. It made me think... how was I to be that kind of Christian? The crucifixion is not a time of mourning, it's not about trying to explain who killed Jesus or to make meaning of the progression of Jesus' death, but to see God's hand in all of it. We aren't meant to see the gruesome details of his death, but WHY he died and his resurrection. The bloodiness is secondary. Love is primary. God witheld NOTHING from us. Jesus is our rescue from the evils we're born into, He is our Love, very savior to the core.

It makes me think, this should be motivation enough to be that kind of Christian.

Foodie

Per request of my dad, here's an update.
As you can see...these first weeks of the quarter have been....MUCH better than last quarter. I've also been gaining weight (even though the exercise has been happening 3-4x qweek)
